I have a couple of fistfuls of wood chips that have been in a bottom of a lambic for the last 21 months. How best to dry them out and save them to distribute dime bags to my homebrew club?

My first guess is heat the oven to 200F, turn it off, and put them in there on a cookie sheet until morning. Will the heat kill everything though?

You could do that but you might kill off some of the bugs. I would just spread them out on cardboard or newspaper and let them air dry.

I think Vinnie said all he did was take the barrels up to the roof, bust them up with an axe , let them dry on the roof and bag them up

thanks guys, now that the humidity has dropped a little bit around here, I will lay them out on a pan and let them dry out.
