using tea to replace hops for bittering

hey i gots a dumb newbe question

1.can i use a strong tea for bittering instead of hops?

2. if i wanted to add tea for flavor when should i do it, do i need to sanitize the tea first if i do it in secondary?

Interesting idea, but you might have issues with astringency.

it would be super puckering like sucking water out of a teabag. just ask jp about sucking on teabags, he can tell you all about it. :unicornrainbow:

Don't do it... way too much tannin.

Herbal teas are ok if they don't have any actual tea in them (like blueberry, peach, etc.), but real tea + alcohol = :nutters:
