Frozen Kegs

Fri Jun 27, 2008 2:55 am

I kegged up a Munich Helles the other day, put it in the fridge to lager for a few weeks, and it froze. Not solid, but pretty thick and slushy. I turned up the temp a bit and the temp of the fridge is now around 35, so I think the beer will melt slowly. Is there any reason to think this will cause any problems with flavor? I haven't done many light lagers and I plan on bringing this to a party later in July, so I don't want it tasting like ass.

I had the same problem last week with my keg of wittbier...

I took the keg out, let that ice melt, carbonated and it was excellent.

Frankly, if everything went ok with the fermentation, you shoudn´t worry.

I think that JP actually did this one time too, and ended up winning a medal for the beer. I remember hearing that on one of the sessions (I think it was "Trick out your Brewery")
I think I've had about enough beer tonight...Now I need some Whiskey to sober up
