CO2 refills

Where do you go for your refills? I am loyal to my local brew shop, but next time I do not want to wait a week for the tank to be set out for refilling. I have heard of some people going to paintabll shops.....how safe is that?

Search for local bar and syrup supply stores. They are who fill the local bar and soda tanks and they will usually fill yours on the cheap. Mine cost $17 for a 20lb. Plus mine will do nitrogen blending if you want it and your tank will support it.

For exchanges, I use both MoreBeer Concord and the welding shop near them. Welding shop is cheaper, MoreBeer is open on weekends.

Try looking for a local Fire Extiguisher Supply company too. I go to the local ABC Fire location and swap out tanks for $6. But its a swap, not a refill. I think they will do a refill, but not while you wait.

So, I guess the CO2 does not have to be food grade....or is CO2 even food grade?
