storing bottles warm

Wed May 07, 2008 5:43 pm

Okay, dumb question. I have not bottled since I got a keg system so it has been over 5 years. I have also not bottled since I started using a keg as a bright tank and cold conditioning all of my beer. I have a batch that I am going to have to bottle that has been in the bright tank at 45F. I am going to force carbonate and then bottle the beer. Is there any harm in storing the bottled beer in a dark place about room temp? This has never been an issue for me before.

Thanks for the help.

All of my bottled brew gets stored in my closet at room temp. I haven't noticed any issues with doing this.

Light and heat will f-up your beer. Sounds like you have the light thing under control. If you can store it cold - it will last longer. If you don't care about cellaring your beer for several years - then don't worry about it. If you are really clean with your process it will be fine for several months.
