Can I carbonate my root beer like a beer?

OK I know that for perfect root beer I need a seperate co2 gage set to 30 psi and likt 30-40 feet of line to balance it out. Well I dont have that.

What is going to happen when I hook up a keg of root beer to my existing kegging system and let it carbonate like I would beer.

12psi
41°
2 weeks carbonation time
5 feet of line to balance

Im fine with the co2 volume being a little low for the first few kegs till i get the correct stuff. Will this work?
weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. beer!

Well, it will pour just like a beer! It might seem sweeter too, since there will be less carbonic bite to offset all that sugar.

You might find it takes even longer than 2 weeks if you just let it sit. I guess because there is no carbonation at all in there at the start it takes even longer than a beer, which starts with some carbonation left over from fermentation.

Before I had a keg setup I also used some dry yeast to carbonate it too. Now that I have kegs, I do exactly what you listed above... Let me know which extract you use and whether you like it. I didn't like the last one I bought, which was in a foil pouch (dont remember the name).
