Teflon tape wouldn't hurt. Three wraps should be fine.

Thanks Matt...maybe I've been wrapping too much teflon tape. I'll make a go of it tonight...

Don't forget to wrap the tape around the threads in the same direction that the fittings screw together (clockwise I believe). This can prevent the tape from unwrapping as the fittings are put together.

Thanks all. Mystery leak finally resolved. Called LHBS for advice and brought in regulator and all connections. Size XL wrench fixed the SS shutoff valve connections but they were stubborn. I replaced my brass Y with T's and now all my gas lines are deconflicted...I'll post a pic. It's pretty solid way (I think) to run a dual regulator with 4 gas lines.)

Bottom line was my threaded connections were not quite tight enough. I am told that the gas lines are tapered threads or something and it's tough to overtighten...we'll see if I have CO2 in the AM.

Again, thanks for the help...

Mystery Leak Solved - New CO2 Problem

Mon Jan 07, 2008 6:05 pm

O.K. I think I know what my new issue is, but want to bounce off the board.

I have 2 LP regulators and each is split with individual shut-off valves with built-in check valves. When I pressurize one of my regulators let it stabilze then back off the pressure, I hear a hissing sound. It seems like I am getting back-pressure off one of the kegs with a bad check valve because it only happens when I back off the pressure. If I close the suspect valve the sound disappears. If I lthen let some pressure off the keg then dial up the pressure...voila, sound disappears (same as if I close shutoff on that line)

Seems like a stuck or faulty chekc valve in my shutoff valve....any other thoughts?
