Brand new brewer. Just starting out. What are the bare minimum essentials I need?

How much (roughly/vaguely) does each item cost?

Like a chart, type thing like this:


Fermenter -- 20$
Airlock -- 5$

Many local homebrew shops and/or online stores (Northern Brewer, Morebeer, etc) have 5 gallon starter kits. They typically come with everything you need. You usually only have to purchase a kettle (8-10 gallons) and bottles/kegs for packaging. They are reasonably priced as well.

$90 & it comes with an ingredient kit. That's a hell of a deal. You'd also need to buy an 8 gallon kettle, which will set you back ~$100.

Take care of the kettle & it'll last you your entire brewing career. The other stuff you'll end up replace and upgrading, but not before you get plenty of use out of it.
