Good Point Jamil made

Fri Aug 16, 2013 10:34 am

I just listened to the latest podcast of Brew Strong about the Hop Q & A and Jamil made a such a good point about how most listeners having been brewing for years and when someone who is new to brewing asks a question that seems obvious to a veteran brewer it's...... I'm not sure where I was going with this folks. Bare with me (yes get naked with me).

I've only been brewing for a year and a half and while I sometimes might not be familiar with certain jargon and junk, that's what the google and forums like this are for, so I quickly find out.

Maybe what I was trying to say is that I appreciate that Jamil knows that not everybody is a master brewer and we all were newbs at some time, I'm a newb myself so I just wanted to say thank you to Jamil for being so super and understanding and wise :drink

Just ask and we'll answer. I started with a Mr. Beer kit. I don't think there exists a lower starting point than that. Now I'm on the BJCP Board. Forums like this one are how I learned, and while we kid around a lot on here, we'll always help the newbies. No question is "too stupid".

The more I brew, the more questions I have.

Speaking of which! Today I took my Imperial Stout to a homebrew club meeting and one of the guys who's been brewing for like 20 years said he could not pick up any flaws in it! YAY!

That brings me joy :D

That's the best part about the BN community. I've seen too many times on other forums where people get mocked for not knowing or for not finding a previous thread where their question was answered. You never see that here.

Just don't ask whether a kolsch or a starter needs a d-rest about 359 thousand times.
Otherwise, we're a pretty laid back bunch.
