Never have myself, but have been thinking of giving it a try. My friend from the great white north brought me a six pack of whistler brewings chestnut brown ale last year and have been thinking about it all summer.

also Im glad I didnt have to drop in just to get my :nutters: out.

I reread this thread. I'm not sure I would mash my nuts.

For those who like nuts in their beer but then find they aren't getting any head, maybe try losing some of the fat. The presence of too much fat makes head nearly impossible.

I wish I was smarter because then I could develop special nuts that actually make head better, then lots of people would want to put my nuts in their beer. Fun way to make money, win win.

I have read this post several times and each time I get a bigger and bigger smile on my face. I have had a rough day and for some reason this just makes it alllllll better. Thanks Jim!

I have found that if you get the flavored spirit extracts you dont need to worry about it affecting the head. I made a pretty good nutty amber ale by adding a couple of drops of some hazel nut spirit extract
