Thoughts on Servomyces

Guys,

I just finished up my bottle of Wyeast nutrient and I'm debating about switching over to Servomyces. I know that I've heard Jamil say he uses it but I was curious what everyone else thinks about it. It has a much higher price tag than the last bottle of Wyeast nutrient I purchased.... Is it worth it?

I bought a package of that about a year ago. I used it but really didn't notice any difference in fermentation. I went back to the Wyeast stuff. Why spend the extra money on stuff that didn't improve the beer?

Yeah... that's what I was thinking too. They're asking $10 for 6 capsules... I figured there had to be something that I'm missing.

I though JZ was using it because he reuses his yeast a few times. The zinc in the servo helps down the road a bit.

Cheers

That may very well be the case... They say it promotes the health and viability of the yeast.

They also mention that it reduces the sulfur notes as well as reduces levels of diacetyl at the end of fermentation. It also is said to reduce fermentation time and improve flocculation. It sounds like it may be more suited for lager's.
