Okay to use 2 tubes of WLP023 for a 5 gallon batch?

Hi All. New to the forum. If I didn't have time to make a starter, what would be the pros/cons of pitching 2 tubes of liquid WL yeast into my IPA clone (shooting for OG=1.58-1.60)? Would it help ensure a fuller fermentation? A faster one? Is too much yeast a risk with this plan? Just curious. Thanks!

Welcome-
Starters are overall cheaper and you can build up a higher cell count.
Otherwise, go for it. It will work fine.

Two vials in a 1.060 beer seems far from overpitching. Hell, you could likely throw a third in there with no negative results. The popes yeast pitching
calculator is a great resource for these calculations. I prefer a starter to get the yeast active, which is the main downside (besides cost) of pitching multiple tubes/packs.
Good Luck!

I am too lazy right now for yeast starters. I run 3 vials or smack packs for 1.065 and down.

Thanks everybody! I'll post the results of the AHS Harpoon IPA clone when I have my first taste.
