Need to toot my own horn!

Sun Aug 29, 2010 2:34 pm

Just got results back from the Nebraska State Fair. My orange/lime spiced mead took home the blue ribbon for the best still melomel, cyser, etc. Also took the Nebraska Beekeepers Association special award for highest scoring mead overall.

Not too bad for a mead I was ready to dump a year ago. 8) Aging does make a difference. The NBA award includes a gallon of honey, so I guess I had better get started on another mead.

Way to go Bee-eater! I just got a couple bottles of mead from the Moonlight Meadery in Londonderry, NH. They hosted a tasting as I was so impressed I had to invest in their wares. Never brewed a mead but now its on the to-do list.

Nice! I just started a new mead today myself. I doubt it will make it to any competitions. Good going to you and have fun with 12 pounds of honey! You're on the way to another batch!
Well that keg disappeared fast!
