Turkey is in the brine!

Wed Nov 21, 2012 3:39 pm

This year I decided to brine the turkey a la Sean Paxton. Even before I put the brine over the turkey it smelled so good I was tempted to taste it. Brine recipe is here: http://www.homebrewchef.com/BeerBrinedTurkey.html

What special stuff are the rest of you cooking up?

My first year brining a turkey as well. I hope it's all it's cracked up to be. I've already made 4 pies (2 sweet potatoe,2 apple struesel), saute'd green beans with bacon/carmelized onion, cornbread dressing, working on the giblet gravy, and broccoli salad. Drank more than a few beers doing it too. I'm just hoping that we don't leave tomorrow and forget something. Up at 5 to get the turkey in the oven. :aaron

Turkey in brine here as well. Not for long, though.
Its about to go on the smoker.
Making cream cheese marbled brownies and my oldest daughter is going to help me make the sausage cornbreax dressing. Its her favorite. Mine, too.
Enjoy the family time folks!
Cheers!

Just about to take it out of the brine and into the oven.
I make a wort instead of the beer/sugar. Worked well last year. Hopefully will this year, too (sure smelled great...)
Happy Thanksgiving all!
