beer pie

Anyone ever make a beer pie? Not one with beer as an ingredient, but one designed to taste like a beer! Hops, malt, etc.

I'm looking for a gimick-type pie to do for a pie contest at work.

Thanks

Hmm I could see doing a crust with flour made from 2 row instead of wheat flour. Making a malt extract custard with a flavor hop addition in a hop bag so it can be taken out. Maybe even do a whipped cream topping with some dry malt extract sprinkled on top. Might hit paxton up since he did do that beer flavored flan for nhc this year.

Yeah, grain could be incorporated into a 'graham cracker' type crust, I'd probably go for something like a pecan pie with malt subbed for the brown sugar and molasses, I'm thinking Vanilla Porter in pie form...

Maybe a chocolate pie with a stout reduction for flavor, a crust with some finely ground malt, and a whipped cream topping with some DME....would even look like a beer on the plate.
