Greetings from Saint Louis

My name is Dave and I'm a home brewer in Saint Louis, Missouri. The local shop I buy my grain and equipment from is St. Louis Wine and Beermaking in Chesterfield, MO.

I brew in my apartment kitchen using a converted water cooler for a MLT. I use a 5 gallon SS pot for an HLT and an 8 gallon SS pot for my boil kettle.

I converted a dorm fridge into a fermentation chamber, which can fit a 5 gallon carboy or bucket, plus a 3 gallon keg at a time.

I've been brewing since 2009 where I was introduced to brewing while attending Southern Illinois University in Carbondale.

Welcome to the forum SuperDave! I have always appreciated the small brewing environments and those that can pull it off with whatever contraptions they can piece together. Well done! Keep on brewing....

Thanks! I'm excited to be part of the forum! In my fermenters now are an American Wheat Ale, a Moose Drool clone, and an American IPA. In the kegs are a Belgian Strong Ale (recipe from Brewing Classic Styles) and a clone of Stone's 10th Anniversary IPA from the book on IPAs by Mitch Steele. Next up I'm planning to brew a Munich Helles for fall and maybe to enter in a competition in Southern Illinois.

Welcome! Are you involved with any of the local clubs? There are at least four in the area--which part of town do you live in?.

As far as your local supplier, check out Kent at Missouri Malt Supply. http://momalt.com/ His shop is in Fenton.

Welcome!

+1 on Kent. He has the best selection at low cost. Dave at StL Wine & Beer is cool and is a good guy, but I just can't afford his prices.

Thanks for the tips on the LHBS. I'll check out Kent's shop for sure. Are either of you members of a brewing club? I was in the Southern Illinois Brewers, but haven't joined a club here in Saint Louis yet. Any tips are welcome.
