fucking feelings again. sorry.

Mon Aug 03, 2009 3:16 pm

Let me begin by saying that I did not like the I am a homebrewer video. I thought it was pretentious. But I didn't agree with JP when he was ranting about how the makers of the video were taking the whole thing too seriously and said something to the effect, It's just beer. To me it seemed a little demeaning to the brewing hobby. I know that this is only a hobby, but the most valuable commodity I have is time and I choose to spend my time learning all I can about brewing better beer and learning all the science/art behind the process. To say that its just beer makes me FEEL like the thing I've chosen to spend my time learning about is somehow less important than I believe it to be. 99.9% of the time I agree with JP, just not this time.

so make room on the calendar, cause those are some fuckin feelings

A surprisingly relevant and effective point.

At 2:53 there's a guy in front of a kettle with boiling wort. Across the top of the kettle is a cross shaped thing with some pvc at the center, and the spoon sticking out. Anyone know what this is?

Oh yeah, and BrewTat, nice response! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CEC-fzO2Vig&NR=1)

Not replaying the video, but I'm guessing there is a bag attached to the pvc piece. Drop your hops additions through the opening, and they sit in the bag for the rest of the boil. Pull the whole works out when you're ready.
