So I'm down to the bottom of my chocococo stout keg, and I've been absolutely pleased with it for the two weeks that it has been on line. But tonight, I'm finding that it has a bit of cat piss in it. I don't think my cat actually did it, because he likes to save his bladder up for my new couch. So what might this be? Do you think that the coconut extract may have released some oils, and these floated to the top of the keg, and now I'm getting them in the last few pints of the keg? I know cat piss was mentioned in one of the Sunday shows - maybe the bjcp tasting program or the queen of beers one, but I can't remember the source, and I'm too drunk trying to figure out the taste to do a good search for it.

Was listening to some old episodes of The Brewcasters and caught mention of this recipe a few times.

Thought it deserved a bump and wanted to ask if anyone's brewed this lately?

I’ve brewed this the past two years to give away in some Christmas gift packs. It’s super smooth and a great stout recipe. I’ve bottled half the batch with drops of extract like Doc said and the other half with about four cups of fresh-brewed espresso. Man that’s good! Both make a killer ice cream float too.

I have one untapped keg in my fridge right now and 10 gallons bottled up if any one wants to come over and have one. It kicks ass my neighbor can't get enough (partly because he is a freeloader and I am stingy)

I kegged this yesterday. Great recipe Doc... thanks!

It tastes delicious! I'd say it's almost a dead ringer for Maui Brewing Coconut Porter.

I did use 2 pounds of unsweetened coconut flakes instead of the extract. That seemed to work pretty well. The coconut level was right on for me, probably just a little bit more coconut than MBC's Coconut Porter. The coconut did soak up quite a bit of beer, so that's a downside.
