dammit, i was outside this afternoon and the wife said she could smell propane around the main house tank, so i got a bottle of soapy water and found the valve where they fill the tank was leaking. I got a crescent wrench and tried to tighten it but only made it worse. I called the propane co. and was lucky enough to catch a lady there on sunday, so she is trying to get ahould of the owner so they can come and fix it. By the way the propane co is 65 miles away and i'm waiting here for a phone call to see when they will be here. now i know why my propane bill has been higher than it should be. again dammit!

Pull a chair up to the tank and have a beer and a cigar while you wait for 'em to get there, I guess...
From our local news rag this morning...
"Propane leak causes Guerneville explosion
...Cassady said the old Orchard Avenue cabin was outfitted with an on-demand water heater fueled by propane. When a woman in the house turned on the hot water, some of the leaking gas was sparked, causing a portion of the exterior wall to blow free from the foundation."

That sucks speed. North Platte or here for your propane? I am guessing North Platte. Hope it has worked out ok, I would guess that it is there fault for the leak as they are the only ones that touch that connection.

I'd J-B weld it! That fixes everything!

thought about the jb weld but also thought maybe loosen the fitting a couple turns and wrap teflon tape on it then retighten it but not sure how many threads are on the fitting. The guy has to come out of valentine and he called last night said he was going to be here today and still hasen't showed up. He said he would come down and LOOK at it and i told him he better bring his truck so he could pump the propane out to get the fitting off, but i think that he thinks he will just tighten something and take care of it. bullshit. Ithink he doesn't know what i'm talking about, all this time i'm losing presious propane, again bullshit!

I would bitch to the propane Co. and see if you couldnt get a discount as theyre tank is faulty and they were charging you for it. Assuming it is theyre tank right?

nope, my tank and its an old valve, but i'm pretty pissed that i'm losing propane. This afternoon the owner sent his son down to look at it and he tried to tighten the valve, same as i did yesterday, and it still leaks so they are going to have to send their truck down so they can pump the tank dry to change it, hmmm, thats what i wanted them to do to begin with. Now their truck is broke down so he doesn't know when they will get to it.fking morons.
