So, I'm up real late with nothing to do. I can't fall asleep because I slept in too late. I won't get tired till around 4:00 AM. I'm planning to pull an all nighter so I can make myself want to go to bed earlier. That will put me back in rhythm.
I don't know why I'm telling people this, but I'm really bored.

The term your looking for is "Circadian Rythm."

Melatonin is your friend. 2 - 5 mg will do wonders. I swear by it.

I used to use melatonin... had to quit because my dreams were waaay to fucked up. Just very realistic/vivid and disturbing. I'd have a good night sleep but I'd be weirded out all day.

You took too much. It will do that with too high a dose.
EDIT: I have read about people who take mega doses on purpose to get weird hyper vivid dreams.

Can't speak of the melatonin. Never tried it. However, my friend once told me about a process to enhance the possibility of "lucid dreaming".
Several times throughout the day, look at a something. Then turn away for a few seconds and back at the item. Say to yourself "That object is the same - therefore I am awake". If you do this for a few days, then you will do the same thing in your sleep - however, the object that you are looking at will be different when you look back. Then you can say to yourself "That object is different - therefore I must be dreaming". At that point you can "take over" your dream and do really cool shit like fly around. It's a blast. Try it!

Well, I've failed. I fell asleep on the couch. I don't have any melatonin here, but I have some at my house. I'll try some when I get home.

Try counting turtles.
