Glühwein

Now that the Holiday season started I like to enjoy yet another alcoholic beverage, Glühwein. This is hot mulled wine that is served at nearly every hut at a German Christmasmarket. Damn' puritan alcohol laws make this tadition impossible in the US
To 125ml (1/2 cup) water (or red wine) add 60g (1/4 cup) sugar, 1 crumbled cinamon stick, 3 cloves and 3-5 slices of lemon (or just 1 Tbsp of lemon zest) bring this to a boil for a few minutes and strain into 1L (1 qt) of red wine. Heat the mixture and serve warm.
I buy a 4L jug of "Carlo Rossi" (the good kind
) and make one 4L batch of Gluehwein out of that. I then pour me a cup of it and heat in in the microwave.
With that Gluehwein you can also make Feuerzangenbowle:

But I'm not sure where you can buy the Zuckerhut (sugar cone) necessary for it.
Enjoy,
Kai
