My girlfriend and I are going to San Fransisco at the end of June. What are some of the must see places. I would like to know about the Beer and non-beer places. Cheers

If your girl wants to see the sunset over the ocean, head towards beach chalet, get a couple bombers to go, and enjoy them from the beach across the street. Or watch the sunset from the second floor bar of the beach chalet.

So that leather site has good notes in the non bar hopping and things to avoid sections. I only joke about Studs, as my family stayed across the street one night.

And I'll recommend the Beer School podcast as well.

Next time we go I want a family picture in the Marin headlands where BrewingTV has the opening of their trip to San Fran.

Anchor Steam does a free tour that's a hoot (plus lots of beer at the end of the tour). You've got to sign up ahead of time, though. There's also 21A.

The Ferry Building is a great food destination, especially on the weekends when it is full of a gigundo farmer's market. Can't go wrong with Hog Island oysters for breakfast and the slanted door for lunch (have the claypot chicken, it is better than the shaking beef that is their signature dish).

If the weather is right, the ocean is usually a lot of fun. Can't swim without a wetsuit, but the entire west border of the city is one long beach. Right near the aforementioned beach chalet and southerly from there are typically a fair number of surfers to watch.

Up northerly is point lobos, seal rock, and the sutro baths, which are pretty cool. The baths are just big concrete foundations being slowly washed out to sea. I love it there, has this really neat post-apocalyptic vibe to it.

If you like outside stuff and have a car, Marin is also nice- muir woods, stinson beach, etc. Angel Island and Alcatraz are both worth the trip, IMO. I like camping on Angel Island- it's weird to be in a tent in the middle of the SF bay.

Museums: I like the de Young, Exploratorium, and Cal academy of sciences.

People-watching: the haight, natch. But you can go lots of places.

you can also take a ferry from sf to larkspur where Marin Brewing is walking distance from the landing. along the way you'll have an up close view of Alcatraz and angel island. just double check the times for the return ferry -- it's a long walk back otherwise.
