had to post a few pics of the new machine I bought for one of my other hobbies... espresso. I had been brewing with a 67 model of Olympia Cremina lever machine. Unfortunately it's been out of action for +2 years and I've never got around to fixing it.

For xmas I Received a $500 gift certificate to seattle coffee gear and bought a new Rocket Cellini Evoluzione... I really wanted a double boiler that could be plumbed. I settled for the Cellini given the cost and appearance. I am still trying to get use to a heat exchanger machine and haven't got the espresso dialed in yet like I had with my Cremina, but getting there

Any other espresso geeks out there?

no, one morning in the process of filling the boiler I got side tracked leaving the boiler on with no cap. It remained this way until I realized what happened the next morning and found the boiler would no longer work. at the time I had a two other single boiler machines and put the cremina to the side until I could get to it, but that never happened. I got annoyed with the other two machines and sold one and gave the other away, but pathetically never got around to checking into the cremina and started looking for a new machine... that was +2 years ago.

buying this new machine has sparked interest in fixing the cremina. I am hoping there is an overload circuit or something causing the issue and not a burnt up boiler. never the less, I would like to get it back to working order even if I have to source a new boiler.

btw, I actually received the cremina from a white elephant gift exchange! The person that brought it took care of a rich elderly couple who had given it to her, she had no idea it's value and at the time neither did I. I cleaned it up, ran some descaler through it, and found it worked much better than the starbucks "barista" machine I was using at the time. it wasn't until a few years later I discovered the creminas are sought after machines.

That's really cool. My suggestion would be to get a service manual, if you havn't already done that. I've talked over the years with a number of repair techs for a variety of commercial machines, there usually is a thermister or fuse circuit that wil blow if the machine reaches extreme tempuratures. The service manual should have a wiring diagram to help in your quest.
