so i'm having a shitty day as it is...whiney kids in the morning whiney kids dont wanna take a nap but i made them (yay for me right) so then they wake up whiney as hell still GESH  and then i was chewing some gum and all of a sudden one of my FILLINGS FALL OUT....WHAT THE HELL????
and ya know it should be silver and shiny...there's only 1 small part thats shiny...the rest is gross looking....and omg i dont know weither or not to be worried cuz now there's a hole in my tooth and if i REMEMBER CORRECTLY it sure wasn't there when i got the filling years ago....what the hell ....was the filling loose enough that something could still get in there and keep continuing to rot out my tooth??? and just the thought of going back to the dentist to get it refilled makes me wanna throw up
so ya gotta ask....was it my tooth or was it the gum that i was chewing at the time?

Yeah, I just had a filling replaced last month that had gotten decay underneath. The dentist was going to fix a small cavity at the edge of an old filling. Once he got to drilling, he had to pull the old filling and ended up having to redo about half the tooth! Fortunately a root canal had been done on that tooth as part of the original restoration.

Get it fixed soon, or you will end up paying a lot more for it later, both in $$$ and pain. Sorry about the tooth.

This happened to me earlier this year. I was just having a day when all of a sudden I realized I had a hard chunk of something rattling around in my mouth. I spat it into my hand and it was a BB-sized piece of tooth (so I thought). I figured I'd broken a tooth sparring (although I always wear a mouth guard) and was cautiously happy it didn't hurt. I made an emergency appointment with my dentist who had a look at the piece of "tooth" (which I'd stuck in a baggie for safe keeping) then looked in my mouth and smiled.
"Nope, just an old filling".
I had no idea they dug so much out of your teeth when filling them.

Milt had a tooth go south on him a few years back. He had lost a filling and didn't say anything about it because he was scared to go to the dentist. They were on a motorcycle trip in the Black Hills when it went totally haywire on him. His Mrs dragged him into a dentist down there kicking and screaming like a little girl. She said he was so scared he was farting in the dentist chair. Of course Milt denies it but the way she rolls her head back and cackles when she tells the story I know it is true. Anyway that tooth was so severely impacted they would not even work on it. They just gave him some antibiotics and some pain pills to get the swelling down and keep him sane until then. Only he could not take the pain pills because he had to ride his bike all the way home. Then once he got home he still had to go to the dentist and get a root canal. That opened up another can of worms because they noticed other stuff while they were rooting around in there. He ended up spending a wad of money on getting his mouth back in shape. All because he was not taking care of business when it needed taking care of.
