I despise PETA and their damn moral superiority. If we weren't supposed to eat meat, we wouldn't be able to digest it. Livestock is treated very humanely as compared to the death it would suffer if left to fend for itself in the wild.

15-16 years ago when I was living in Oregon, a bunch of PETA folks decided to "liberate" a couple thousand mink from a mink ranch near Portland. Many were killed by cars, more eaten by dogs, owls, etc., and most of the rest were found starved to death in the woods. So much for humane treatment of animals by those folks.
