Homebrewing beer. Irish Red Ale is an easy drinking beer, with an up front malty sweetness and a dry finish. Jamil explains why the beer he entered shouldn't have taken first place for this style.
OK, I don't want to sound rude or anything, its a fun show to listen to and it's entertaining.. But, if I may critique a bit...
this show, like many of the other ones, contained an unbelievable amount of absolutely off-topic discussions and very little info on the actual style of Irish Red Ale.. Just a quick recipe that you must really concentrate hard to decipher between all the unrelated chit chat...
I would have liked discussions about:
- Difference between commercial examples, please try to elaborate on the spectrum of style, not give only one very specific recipe and thats it..
- Yeast selection.. Especially regarding the fact that lager versions of the styles are accepted per BJPC standards, which was not mentioned at all in the show.
- And what about water adjustments..?
I think all the styles show could be revisited like you did for ciders, as they all contain very few information.

No offense, but I don't want to know what you did this weekend. It seemed Like I had to wait 20 minutes before you started talking about the beer style. I want you guys to get technical and teach me stuff, not shoot the sh*t.

My 2 cents.......by Gary, December 17, 2010
Just listened to the Free episode of Irish Ale Style (Free being the key word). There was some good info in it. Helped me out with the style. I know you can't please everyone. Besides, I love the conversations. The side conversations help me get to know them. And there drinking tasty brew throughout the show. Wish I had that job. I have a ton of respect for everyone that is a part of this show. I think it is a privilege to get the info i'm getting. And as I said before it's free. If you don't want to hear them shooting the sh*t then use google.
