They'll be just fine, they love the heat.
Just make sure you water them well, preferably at dawn and/or dusk. Mine are on a timer.

halucin8 wrote:I was also wondering what would happen if I cut them off at the ground to harvest, would they grow again this year??

It's actually suggested that you cut them down if you are in a area where it gets really cold.
They should grow back just fine, mine sure did.(not that it ever gets cold here)
You can also bury the vines.

I sandwich my hops between air filters and bungee to a box fan on med, they are dry in about 24 hrs.

I vacuum seal and freeze after they are dry.

So I harvested a couple weeks ago and got 7.5oz after drying. Not too bad since they are flowering again.

Prost.

Finally got some pics of my hops this year. Planted 9 varieties - 2x centennial, fuggle, williamette, nugget, mt. hood, magnum, sterling, cascade, and 2x goldings.

So far, only the centennial and goldings have flowered. Most vigorous growers were (in decreasing order) Cascade, magnum, goldings, nugget, centennial. Worst grower was fuggle by far as it is still only about 5' tall.

Pics taken on 7/30

So lots of talk has been about when to harvest hops for the new growers and I have a hard time visualizing what the hop cone would look like. Based on the cover of the latest Zymergy do the hops in the photo match what a hop should look like when it is ready to be harvested?

Thanks!
