Porter Recipe- Bell's clone

I said I would post a porter recipe that has treated me right thus far......... here it is
7.5 lbs amber LME
.5 lb flaked barley
.5 chocolate malt
.25 black patent
.5 crystal 90 l
1 oz cenntenial for boiling hops
white labs 004 irish ale yeast
should be the last brew I steep and brew extract with, and yeah, everyone is going to hate on the flaked barley, but this recipe has treated me right thus far....... so no complaints here. supposed to be a bell's porter clone and I purchased it from Austin Homebrew. So if it does yall well, tell them... I will tell them after I actually get something scored! pitched just the tube of yeast and was the first time I used counterflow chiller.......started 1.060, finished 1.016 ferment temp was between 65 and 70, don't yet have a setup to control it precisely good luck all

I use flaked barley in my oatmeal stout recipe, so I think it works good. Adds to head retention. Sounds like a good recipe. Brew it up and see how it comes out. If you like it, then Great. If not, brew it again and change up the grain bill a little bit. I think you've got a winner. Let us know how it comes. Bell's is a great brewery up here. I like a lot of their stuff.

Bells is a solid, quality brewhouse. I have enjoyed their fine brews for years...I just ordered this recipe from Austin Home brew and hope it is very close to the Bells Porter...I love the stuff!

Another great tasting porter is the Thirsty Trout Porter from a little brewhouse out of Marshall, MI....very tasty stuff - and there are a couple good clones out there that are very close...
