Possible infection??????

Tue Nov 19, 2013 2:53 pm

Ok, so I have a blonde that I made 8 days ago with California ale yeast. I checked it a few days ago and it looked like a layer of yeast is all on the top. It's almost like a krausen made of yeast. Also a few inches higher is the ring the real krausen made. I have done about 20 batches and I have never seen this. It also has a really strong bread flavor. Do I need to RDWHAHB or is it possibly infected?

The krausen is yeast. It hasn't completely fallen yet, just leave it be.

That's what I was hoping. It's not like the usual krausen, though. It looks almost like wet bread dough.

Sounds pretty normal to me. Got pics? Preferably of a sexy brunette of the female persuasion, scantily clad, wearing glasses. I suppose pictures of the krausen will do, but you'll lose all your bonus points.

How is this Oz? I got one of both. The scantily clad female looks really slutty too.

looks fine. The yeast are almost done and they are flocking out. This is a falling krausen.
Perfectly normal.

Yep perfectly normal. Wish I could say the same for that photo emblazed on my brain now. Reminds me of a drunken one night stand in college!
