I've already done several batches with either mash hops or FWH and then the rest at the end, multiple additions, and it's worked very well for me. I think that since mash hop and FWH lend more hop character to flavor than 60 min addition, it's worth trying with Citra and the like.

Recently used citra for the first time, so I did a single hop beer with it.

In short 60mins made it a little harsh, u may prefer magnum or warrior instead.. Late in the boil is where this shines! I will also use with caution as dry hop as it can be a little grassy. Also there's alot of oils, so a little goes a long way for DH.

Restraint with Citra seems to be a good plan in my experience. I love them late in the boil, but use them lightly. Well, except for my planned Belgian Pale Ale that I want to be a Belgian APA that is a tropical fruit bomb.

Timmy, what yeast strain are you planning to match with the Citra for this? I've thinking along these lines and have'nt decided yet.

I am still working through it. I think it'll go down with WLP530 which I LOVED when I brewed the Capt Lawrence Extra Gold Clone recipe...I want this to be a lower alcohol version and to explode with the citra tropical flavors I love in my APA and IPA.

Sounds about right to me too. I've got some 3787 I may try to revive for this. Hope this still fits in the context of the op. Raging Bitch, after all. :D

Upon looking through my hop selection I think it'll be Citra-heavy and no Simcoe. I want citrus and mangos little to no pine.

This one is shaping up for a brew next weekend. Planning to pitch at basement temp of ~ 65F and letting yeast run wild and do whatever it pleases...I think WLP 530 likes it hot.

Cheers fellow soldiers.
