I checked my refractomer after and it is fine. Went over my numbers in beersmith to and it figures right

you didn't by chance add your sparge water and vigorously stir it while still keeping the valve open ... thus collecting mostly water instead of rinsing the sugary goodness from the grains?

If I'm mashing german pilsner malt at 148°F, I usually don't see full conversion, using an iodine test, for 90 minutes or longer.
My mash pH is sometime low at about 5.1 @ room temp.
