The brew day started all kinds of nice. I used all my new brew in a bag equipment. I finally got to use a recently acquired 15 gal kettle with a ball valve/filter set up I installed and a homemade immersion chiller. The day was a usual brew day, just waiting for water to boil, until i start to drain the kettle...The filter set up (a braided stainless steel tube) gets clogged immediately which pissed me off. After a while of trying new things I had to put a sanitized wrench in the chilled wort to get it to pour out. Because of this wrench incident I assume the beer will suck, but if it is drinkable I will name it "adjustable wrench".

Were you using pellet hops? With that kind of setup I found I had to bag pellets or exactly what you experienced will happen. Leaf hops always worked fine though without the bags.

That was my thought... how'd the BIAB part go?

My set up is a 15 gal aluminum kettle with a ball valve installed, on the inside of the kettle there is a braided stainless steal tube to act as a filter. And the brew in the bag was such a seamless transition. I did not check any of my numbers, but the yeast were active two hours into fermentation.

So were you using pellets that plugged your braid?

We have all been there in one way or another. Glad to hear you hopefully figured out what the problem was so you can avoid it next time for a more seemless brewday. Each time you brew you will learn more and more about your system which will make each batch better than the last.
