Thanks.. Would be interesting to compare the differences in recipes.

Ok found the info here ya go:

Thanks for the e-mail. The recipe that More Beer has is the original recipe
from the original Blind Pig Brewing Company in Temecula, CA in 1994. The
version we make now is slightly different, however, I don't have it in
homebrew format. We do use a little Simcoe and Amarillo now to bring up the
hop profile. The thing about the equipment at Blind Pig in the 90's was it
was so inefficient that we had to had so much more hops to get enough hop
character in the beer that it brought the bitterness up. Also, we do not
use oak chips present day.

Good luck,

Vinnie

Ingredients:
2.0 oz Chinook (13.0%) - added during boil, boiled 60.0 min
0.5 oz Cascade (5.8%) - added during boil, boiled 30.0 min
1.0 oz Cascade (5.8%) - added during boil, boiled 15.0 min
0.5 oz Amarillo (8.5%) - added during boil, boiled 1.0 min
0.5 oz Simcoe (13.0%) - added during boil, boiled 1.0 min
0.25 oz Amarillo (8.5%) - added dry to primary fermenter
0.25 oz Simcoe (13.0%) - added dry to primary fermenter
0.5 oz Cascade (5.5%) - added dry to primary fermenter
1.0 oz Centennial (10.0%) - added dry to primary fermenter
13.0 lbs Pale Malt(2-row)
0.5 lbs Wheat Malt
0.5 lbs Cara-Pils Dextrine Malt
0.5 lbs Crystal 40L
0.0 oz Whirlfloc - added during boil, boiled 10.0 min
1.0 oz Oak Chips (American) - added dry to primary fermenter
1.0 ea White Labs WLP001 California Ale

Notes:
Dry hop with 1 oz American oak chips, 1/2 oz cascade hops and 1 oz centennial hops 7 days into the fermentation. Rack off the chips and dry hops after another 7 days.

Ok so changes I would make ( I need to brew this again I guess, this was from almost 2 years ago):

Chinook would be about 1.25oz @ 60, then maybe .5oz of Simcoe and Amarillo @ 5 minutes, double the amount of dry hops except the cascade

Chris

You can count on a CYBI for both beers. We would have already done them but we sorta loaded up on west coast beers and had to give the rest of the country/world some attention. I'm brewing a Norwegian CYBI beer this weekend.

A Blind Pig and Pliny clones would be huge.

bump

I came across this post by searching the forums. I think a CYBI Russian River series is definitely in order. Elder clone recipies are fairly available, but there is not much about blind pig. Also, I think a Younger clone is desperately needed - especially because it is basically impossible for the vast majority of people to get to try it. You could maybe even incorporate a CYBI show for something like Supplication !

Please please pretty please
