If it is being thrown out I'd check all the wiring with a multimeter. The black is your hot line so none of the other wires should be directly shorted to the black. If any of the wires read a dead short to the black chuck the motor.
The black wire (in standard wiring) is always the line voltage. User your multi meter and make sure the hot side of the AC is connected to the black. The common side of your AC (like if you cut the end off an extension cord) is usually a white wire and can be connected to either the yellow or orange since they look to be tied together.
Is that motor made in China? They don't always follow standard color codes so it is hard to say for sure.
