Propane regulator weirdness.

My dinky brew stand has two of the Chinese 67K BTU burners, and they work fine with the regulator I bought for my single burner fish cooker years ago. The only problem is that I can't boil off 1 gal per hour like I'd like to. It's more like 1/2 to 2/3 gal/hr.

A friend laid a 10" banjo buner stand on me, and I was looking forward to using it for the BK, but the old regulator will barely light it. I've heard of issues with the tank's cutoff valve, but that doesn't appear to be the problem. So I seem to need a new regulator.

I've seen so-called "high pressure" regulators at Home Depot that put out 10 PSI, and single "Jet" burner stands at Academy Sports that have a 30 PSI regulator, but I can't find the 30 PSI regulator (assuming that's the one I need) separately.

Which regulator do I need with this 10" banjo? Is there any good reason not to adapt a CO2 regulator to the job and say to heck with having to guess which regulator I need? Then I'd have an adjustable regulator _*AND*_ a pressure gauge.

All propane that I use is typically regulated at 10-11psi.

It could be a single burner, or an entire house.

You increase the size of the distributing piping after the regulator to increase the flow of gas to the fixtures rather than changing the psi of the regulator.

You need larger diameter supply piping, not a different regulator if you want more gas to your two 67K BTU burners.

I have not heard of a 30psi propane fixture. It may exist, but is not typical.

So the high end BTU rating of this is based on 30psi?

What size supply pipe do you run from the regulator to these burners?

Looked at the website - would be nice if they offered they offered the large banjo with a stainless base, but can not find that.

I hard piped mine with 1/2" pipe, but you have to neck it down to 1/4" at the burner. You could also just use the standard 1/4" hoses.

doesn't your boil off have more to do with the air surrounding your kettle?

you'll get more boil off in a cold and dry air (winter) than in hot and humid (summer) weather.

This is what I've got....

Mine arrived yesterday. I hooked it up to the 10" banjo and, after dicking with the regulator and the shutter for a while, I got the sucker to light.

Good Lord but that thing puts off some heat!
