We need JP to read this thread on air! Dammit I almost fell out of my chair!

Once I started poking my nipple through a bunch of times, I realized it was not the length of my nipple by the number of threads. It seems all the nipples have the same 1/2" or 3/4" thread length. Sure I could have bought a die and increased the threads on my nipple but it would have been a risk of damaging the remaining threads as well as much more cost and challenge.

I was quite smitten with my self for coming up with the copper nipple ring seated firmly against my nut applying the needed length. The bunghole idea would have been much easier but I am sure I would have screwed up my bunghole too.

Are you building a mash tun or shooting a porno? You should definitely avoid screwing up your bunghole. Nothing screws up a brew day faster than your bunghole leaking on the floor! And with all the nipple twisting going on...

A hole was drileld for the nipple to poke through.

Still the nipple was too short with the tightening nut on the near end of the nipple and too uch nipple with the nut on the far end.

use a nipple ring to cover the distance between my nut

slid it over my nipple against my nut then pushed my nipple

I cranked it down backed away and admired my hack job.

Brilliant.

My god! I have been laughing my ass off throughout this entire thread!
I honestly cannot tell if it is a serious question…Ironman…you’re not helping!
If it is a serious question…good luck, my friend.

While the subject matter is factual, I have done my best to phrase it in such a way to maximize the beer through nose snorting. I have a longer version on my Four King Beach blog with fewer typos (I hope) but am happy with my original work.

I am a bit anxious for my first time though I am confident that I will not have much, if any, leakage from my nipple work on the bunghole. I hope that the hot wort will not adversely affect my nipple o-ring causing seeping. I am not sure if the warm moistness will cause it to swell ensuring a good seal or if the nipple ring is supposed to retain its size and shape. I want my first time to be memorable in a good way. Dealing with a seeping bunghole is not part of the plan.

I have the same type of cooler mash tun except with a bazooka screen. I have some dripping from my bunghole and I'm afraid to tighten my nuts anymore for fear of cracking something. I'll probably go buy some food grade sealant pretty soon. :D

I think that aquarium sealant is food grade, and it's just 100% silicone that you can buy at home depot. Maybe you'll be happier if you get some silicone near your nuts.

the Gott cooler worked perfectly! So, for all the pain in the ass, it all worked out and I have a fine mash tun.
