Hey all. I've never noticed this thread before  . I have to do a presentation to my LHBC next Saturday on the American Brown Ale style. There aren't many to be had here in Roanoke, VA. I can get Brooklyn Brown, Lost Coast Downtown Brown, DFH Indian Brown. I was looking to add some more hop-forward examples from the west coast or midwest. Also was looking to get some Terrapin India Brown Ale. Anyone out there help me out? I can trade for most anything in the Mid-Atlantic, Northeast, Michingan areas. Or I could pay you for it. Please PM if you can help me out.

I can't help you out with a trade, but I always thought of DFH Indian Brown as being pretty hoppy.

Downtown Brown is not of the style American Brown. It's more of an English Brown. I formulated it to go with pizza and not to fit in a style. Most of our beers are not made to a certain style. I feel the fun of brewing is inventing new beers not trying to match a style. DTB is not hoppy enough to be an American Brown. It's not really an English brown either but it's closer to that.

Thanks Barb. I was just going by those pesky BJCP style examples  . I think that perhaps they need some updating...
