FWIW, the more aggressive your crush is, the more flour you are going to have. I noticed quite early on that most of the flour rises up and plugs up the top of the mash during a fly sparge. I take the back of my spoon and routinely slice up the top of the mash to keep things flowing smoothly.

Okay, stupid question time... When you use rice, does it matter what kind? Do you just grab a bag of Mahatma, or does it need to be some special type of rice, ie. brown?
