In it's 900th year of being run, the Maltose Falcons' Mayfaire Competition is up and running... (Ok.. so the competition has been running since before 1979, but given that I was but a toddling toddler then, it might as well be 900 years ago!
)
Entries are being accepted between 3/18 and 4/5. 3 bottles and $6 per entry.
Rules, regs, entry forms and online registration is here! (Click now to register!)
Style Guidelines for this years are the the 2007 Falcons Guidelines (PDF link).
New styles include: Irish Red Ales, Belgian Brut, Wheat Wine, Roggenbier, Saison Spring/Summer, Saison Fall/Winter
This is a good sized competition, usually receiving between 250-450 entries with the grand prize being "The Bird" (aka Hashell Dammett!) Seen below is Hashell's smaller Tap handle cousin
So come take a crack at winning the bird, having points count towards the Sierra Nevada California Homebrewer of the Year Award and joining the ranks of brewers like Mike McDole (2 year winner), Jamil Z (2 year winner) and John Maier (a Rogue, a Falcon and a 3 year winner)!
