Operation AHA Coax

Mission Objective: Convince the AHA to allow meister into the NHC through supportive emails from members.

Mission Description: This is a completely voluntary mission. Not volunteering for the mission will not be placed on the soldier's record. The mission will entail writing emails to the AHA in support of letting meisterofpuppets (real name will be disclosed to volunteers) into the 2009 National Homebrewer's Conference in Oakland, California. Emails will only be sent once meister has written and sent his request email and given the signal for others to send their supportive emails.

Mission Requirements: Soldier must be a master of prose. Enthusiasm in the line of duty is a must. AHA membership is preferable but not required.

I will support you 100%, however this is not something that the AHA has the authority to change. This is an insurance issue, It costs the AHA thousands of dollars to insure and event like this from all of the liabilities that are present when you have 1000+ drunks in a given place. Long story short, the insurance company rights the rules not the AHA. That being said, best of luck, may the force be with you, and let us know what we can do to help!

I'll help, but like BadRock said, it's an uphill battle.

Besides the insurance, should you "accidentally" sample some beer, the AHA, and the hotel could be criminally and civilly liable. And the penalties for contributing to the deliquincy of a minor can be pretty steep, and the penalties may even include the hotel losing its liquor license for a period of time. That could cost them convention business.

As I mentioned to him in the chat room - he might want to research whether or not DD armbands/badges are sold. Even then, there still might be a minimum age for DD's.

Sorry dude, but I gotta say you should not be allowed in. As much as you like beer and brewing, you are a liability to my hobby. I think that would shed some pretty bad light on the AHA if they allowed you in. This is the same group of people fighting to change laws to legalize home brewing in other states. If anything was to happen if you somehow got in that could really put some people's hard work a few steps back.
