Golden City Legendary Red Ale

Thu Jan 31, 2008 8:16 am

Two of my best friends are from Golden, CO and have several times asked about me making a GC Red clone.

I can't find much of anything out about this beer. After lots of searching, here's what I've got:

It may or may not be an altbier.

Yeah. That's it. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Evan

Alright, I have a solution to your problem. Jeff Griffith is the head brewer at Golden City. He's a great dude and loves to help out the homebrewing community. Just drop him an email and I'd bet he would send you an exact recipe. His email address is jeff@gcbrewery.com

You can also check out their website, http://www.gcbrewery.com/

It's a little out of date but, there's still some good info. Let me know how that works out for you. Other wise Vanna and I might have to take a trip over and visit him.

You betcha!

Vanna and I were invited to a private tasting there a while back with several other brewers and Gary & Erin Glass of the AHA. We had a great time and Jeff was a great host. Can't say nicer things about Golden City Brewing and Jeff Griffith. Plus they have some great beers.

Jeff is a wonderful person and a fantastic brewer. Well worth checking out Golden City if you're ever in the area.
I hope my post helped in some way. If not, please feel free to contact me.

Absolutely give him an e-mail. He's a awesome dude and willing to help out any homebrewer anyway he can. He's a member of our club and as many pros have, he started out just like us.

On a side, their barley wine took a gold this past years at the state fair. Very tasty
