has anyone made any of the recipe's from Sam C's book "Extreme Brewing"? just curious, i made the blood orange hefe to be ready for the superbowl. wanted to know if anyone else has tried any of the recipes or what they thought of them. cheers!

I haven't done anything from Radical Brewing, but me and a friend of mine made a clone of Dogfish's Indian Brown Ale. I give props to the Dogfish brewer, because making "extreme beers" is a pain in the ass...

I got the book for x-mas but haven't brewed from it yet. Vinnie's Hop Father is on the top of my list though. And that IPA dipping sause...yum

well, the 5 gal of the blood orange hefe was gone by the end of the game. it was rather tastey i must say but it lost most of the nose it had while fermenting. i'm going to double the zest next time to see if that helps. Cheers, drew

Maybe you could figure out a way to "cap off" the fermenter thusly preventing the aromatics from escaping thru your airlock.

I am planning on brewing the A-Z brown Ale in a few weeks.

We just bottled our Blood Orange Hefe this weekend. Our orange aroma was pretty much non existant as well. It isn't done carbonating yet, but the taste we had while bottling had a very subtle (just about right for me) citrus flavor. According to the frau (who is hard to please when it comes to beer), this is our best homebrew yet.

Never brewed this one, but I know with my Witbier the orange and spice aromas don't really become very apparent until it's carbonated. The CO2 brings the aromas out of solution with it. See what it's like once carbonation is complete.
