So I'm planning on brewing a MiaBock this weekend. I was looking at this recipe.

10 Gal 70% efficiency

27 lbs Vienna
1 lb of Carmel Pils

2 oz Hallertauer Tradition 50mins
2 oz Hallertauer Hersbrucker 10 mins
2 oz Hallertauer Hersbrucker 5 mins
2 oz Something maybe MT Hood Dry Hop

Bohemian Lager

Problem is despite needing Vienna I got Munich instead. So will Munich work or should I go back and get the Vienna?

I just ran it on Promash and there is no way this is going to work. Even tried cutting the Munich in half and using Pilsner, and it is still way to dark. May be I'll do a regular bock and then drop a MiaBock on the yeast cake.

Munich malt has enough stuff to self convert, so you should be alright, But I wouldn't add any more adjuncts or specialty grains.

I think what he's driving at is that the color will be wrong for the Maibock...that bites! But RDWHAHB right? So, I guess you're right go for a bock and then drop a maibock on the yeast later (and make doubly sure you got the Vienna? )

Cheers,
Greg

I don't know what it will be if you use what you have, but I'll drink it! It sounds delicious.
