Hi all
I am thinking of putting together a recipe of a Belgian Wit, with some late hop additions of west coast hops. I am planning on and standard spice addition. It not going to be a white IPA, just a standard wit and some citrus hops and I am wondering if anyone has experience with the combination of a spicy/phenol wit and such flavor/aroma hops?
All the best

I haven't brewed a wit with citrus hops but you might try Sorachi Ace for a lemony flavor or Summit which I get a tangerine flavor.
Good Luck!

I haven't used a lot of C hops. But I've had success with about 0.5g/L of Cascade at flameout in a Wit. Just to add another layer of citrus flavour.

I have made a hop addition around the 5 minute mark of Cascade many times and Summit a few times. What I have noticed is that you do get a nice citrusy hop aroma, but in competition I get dinged for it because you can tell between the citrusy hop aroma and a citrusy/spicy aroma. I usually add anywhere from 1/2 to 1/4 an ounce of hops at the 5 minute mark. However in a Wit I brewed 2 days ago I did not do any late hop additions but added more fresh bitter orange peel as well as some organic navel orange peel at the 2 minute mark. Right now it is fermenting with Wyeast Wit ale yeast at 63 and whenever I open the fridge I can smell the orange and the coriander unlike I ever had before. I will be interested to see how this goes.
In short, I have made some Wit's that I as well as friends have loved with late hop additions but the judges do not seem to enjoy that. So give it a shot, see what you think!

I have never used them but supposedly New Zealand Motueka hops can provide a lemon lime aroma. Here is a write up from rebelbrewer.com
Lemon-Lime, Tropical Fruit and Spice is the best way to describe this wonderful Hop from Down Under. Originally imported to Belgian Breweries, It first was know as Belgian Saaz, then later changed to "B" Saaz to prevent confusion about country of origin, then later the name was changed to Motueka. Most recently it has seen growing popularity for it's heavy use in Sierra Nevada's Southern Hemisphere Harvest Ale.
Typical Beer Styles: Pale Ales, Cask Bitter, IPAs, Bohemian Pilsners, Belgian Ales
Typical Alpha Acid: 6.5 - 7.5%
