I have been wanting to make an Irish Red for some time now and didnt have the proper ingredients for it on this day either. So I made a California Style Red Ale instead, you may ask wtf is that? Its a Red Ale with Pale to IPA hops , WLP001 yeast and Red Ale maltbill. The recipe shows all that was used but I would have used 120L Crystal if I had it.

That looks very very interesting...

Two of my favorite styles are Irish Red and Pale Ale... I like what you have here with the merging of styles.

I think I may just brew this with you!

Here's my Cal Red Ale that is always a big hit. 5 gallon version, and I use WLP007. I tried it with WLP001, but I like it better with the 007. I just brewed this again yesterday.

8 lbs 8.0 oz Pale Malt (2 Row) US (1.8 SRM) Grain 73.5 %
1 lbs 8.0 oz Caramel/Crystal Malt - 10L (15.0 SRM) Grain 13.0 %
1 lbs 8.0 oz Munich Malt (9.0 SRM) Grain 13.0 %
1.0 oz Black (Patent) Malt (560.0 SRM) Grain 0.5 %
1.50 oz Goldings, B.C. [5.00%] (60 min) Hops 28.6 IBU
0.50 oz Cascade [7.00%] (5 min) (Aroma Hop-Steep) Hops
