I am try to think of a great ESB recipe for the fall. I love those ESB's with great English hop aroma, just looking for suggestions. Thought I would do a blend of Marris Otter and pale malt, or maybe Golden Promise. I thought definitely a dry hop. Probably try two different yeast. Thanks for any suggestions.

East Kent Golding... Had good results with it

I love WY 1968 for my bitters and ESB's. It drops out quickly and ferments even faster! I also like blending Styrian golding and East Kent Goldings for aroma and flavor additions. Don't be afraid to use a judicious amount of crystal malts to get that nice caramelly flavor going.

Amen, Brotha! Jamil's "No Short Measure", is one of my favorites. I have brewed it with a few different hops and schedules. EKGs and Fuggles have worked out mighty fine for me. Once, I used Northern Brewer hops, and it was really good. Not quite to style, but drinkable, nevertheless. Also, like you, I use the 1968

If you can find them challenger is a fantastic hop for late hopping.

I've had good results bittering with Challenger and using Fuggles late.

Use British crystal malt if you can find it. I like to mix 77 dark and 165 extra-dark. I also like to use some amber malt or aromatic. I usually add more late hops than would be appropriate for style.

Thanks for the input. Challenger is good idea. Never used it as a late addition.
