The wife and I were at the local brewpub (Carlyle's) this weekend. He had on tap what he called an American Brown ale. This beer had wheat in it from the description on the beer menu. It was a strong Ale with 10.8% ABV. The suprising thing about this beer is it didn't have any alcohol taste in the finish. I know American Brown Ales don't typicaly use wheat but I was wondering if anyone has brewed an Amerian Brown with wheat in it? If you did, did you use regular wheat or Chocolate wheat?

I haven't brewed this particular style with wheat, but I have thought about it. Wheat would help aid head retention. There might be a little cloudiness, but should be disguised by the color of the beer. Wheat shouldn't affect the taste much if at all.
