Hi All,
I have a new batch fermenting, but after only 12 hours, it began to clump into large, mossy/grainy, top floating chunks. I am new to brewing, but this looks unlike my other attempts and I'm unsure if this is mold/bacteria. Is this maybe the yeast at work? Otherwise the only new thing I tried was an addition of irish moss my local shop suggested.

I am making a 1 gal. belgian pilsner base w:

-Yeast = safale s-33
-Added Irish Moss
-4 tsp lavender

All other ingrediants I have used before and have not had this result. Any suggestions/thoughts will be help.

Thanks,
Brandon

Weird looking krausen. Doesn't look like mold to me, though. And it's definitely not a pellicle.
I've seen the chunks like that INSIDE the wort, but never chunky like that with no foam cap.

I'd just let it ferment out, then after everything floccs out taste it.
If it tastes ok, then it is ok.

Looks like clumps of coagulated protein/break material to me. It's likely captured some CO2 and that's caused it to rise. It'll eventually settle out and you'll be fine.

I see that a lot right before my krausen forms. You will be just fine as stated above. Let the beer finish out, package, and enjoy!
