I use a stir plate for my flask and shake the shit out of my 1 gallon bottle... seems to produce the same action in my starter.

That sounds like a decent experiment.... How long do you shake the jug for 2 Dog? How much wort in each? I used to use 1/2gal growlers with an airlock before I got the stirplate. I too shook the shit out of my jugs

I figure:
-1.8l in each vessel
-1 vial in each vessel (or smack pack, or what have you)
-Shake the shit out of the growler before pitching and leave the stir plate on all night for the flask.
-After 24hrs, decant the flask into another identical growler with an airlock and let them both sit.
-Measure the yeast that settles to the bottom.

It's not counting cells but it should give a decent idea of yeast production. I'll get back to you....
