Getting back on topic, there are several online appliance parts shops that are very reasonable. I've bought from www.partselect.com and www.appliancepartspros.com with good results.

Sounds like experience speaking here, maybe the treat is not the way to go!

Have you tried a liberal coating of vaseline around the edges to help with a seal?
